How Rose Oolong Tea can Improve your Health

Combinations are great: cheese on a sandwich, peanut butter with jelly, bacon and eggs, or even pineapple on a pizza. Okay, maybe not the last one. But hear me out, what about beverages? Have you tried any unique beverages lately? Let me suggest one right here- Rose Oolong tea

What is Oolong Tea?

Oolong tea is a traditional Chinese tea. Just like green tea or black tea, oolong tea comes from the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. The main difference is the method of processing. Oolong tea is partially oxidized: less than black tea but more than green tea. This partial oxidation is the reason for oolong tea’s characteristic taste and colour. Due to the partial oxidisation, oolong tea has the best of both worlds.

Now that you know about oolong tea, let’s dive deeper into the health benefits it offers.

Oolong Tea May Help in Managing your Weight

A natural way to incorporate healthy measures into your diet is to consume tea. Of course, a balanced diet and regular exercise are a must. A lot of studies suggest that tea can play a crucial role in managing body weight.

Oolong tea is a traditional semi-oxidized Chinese tea. It is different when it comes to taste and aroma, but the benefits are pretty similar to regular tea.

In a study done on 12 men, it was found that compared to water, those who drank tea had more energy in general. The energy expenditure of the men who were given full-strength tea was increased by 2.9%.

May Reduce the Risk of Cancer

One of the most deadly diseases on the face of the earth, cancer has no guaranteed way to be cured. It can only be prevented through a healthy lifestyle, and treatment is also very risky with very low chances of survival.

The consumption of most types of teas provides properties that drastically affect our lives. Oolong tea has chemopreventive properties that may help keep this disease at bay.

In a study done on black tea extracts, oolong tea exhibited anti-mutagenic, anti-proliferative, and anti-neoplastic activities. These activities indicate the potential for the prevention of cancer in humans as well.

Oolong Tea May Prevent Heart Disease

Heart diseases are very common these days. People who are overweight have a higher risk of heart failure. The New Delhi Birth Cohort has revealed in a PubMed research, that “The annual number of deaths from CVD (cardiovascular disease) in India is projected to rise from 2.26 million (1990) to 4.77 million (2020)”.

A study done on 12 men reported that consumption of tea helped them exhibit increasing energy expenditure and fat oxidation. More energy expenditure means less accumulation of lipid, which can decrease the incidence of heart disease.

In another study, researchers revealed that 600 out of 1507 subjects, who were regular tea drinkers, had a 46% decreased risk of developing hypertension.

Oolong Tea Acts as an Antioxidant

Oxidative stress is a serious problem that can pave the way for chronic diseases like heart conditions. It is caused by the damage done by free radicals in our bodies. Antioxidants are compounds that reduce or prevent the chance of oxidative stress and hence they are extremely important for us.

Studies reveal that oolong tea shows antioxidant activity between 233 and 532 µmol/g, which is pretty significant. The researchers noticed a modest increase in human plasma antioxidant capacity upon oolong tea consumption.

The compounds responsible for this are Theasinensins,  A–E/alpha-tocopherol, and Theasinensins A–E. They decrease lipid peroxidation, which is a good thing against free radical damage.

Oolong Tea is Anti-Inflammatory

Inflammation is a process that starts in our bodies once an injury takes place.

It can lead to heat, pain, redness, swelling as our body tries to protect itself. But long-term inflammation, lasting for prolonged periods of several months to years, is a bad thing.

Research suggests that ethanol extract of oolong tea shows pro-angiogenic activity mediating protective effects on inflammation.

Oolong reduces plasma MCP-1, which is another indication of its anti-inflammatory properties. Other components such as flavonoids such as cate-chins, theaflavins, and theasinensins also contribute to its anti-inflammatory nature.

Oolong Tea is also Anti-Diabetic

Diabetes can be very difficult to live with. There is no way to cure it, therefore preventing it is our only option. One way to do this is by incorporating tea into our diets.

Oolong tea may help reduce the risk of diabetes. In a study done on diabetic rats, Oolong tea reduced plasma glucose from 229 to 162.2 mg/dL. Theasinensins play a major role in the anti-diabetic property of Oolong tea. Theasinensins A has shown antihyperglycemic responses in diabetic mice.

So, What about Rose Petals?

Undoubtedly the most famous symbol of love, rose petals provide so much more than just appreciation for love.

Rose Petals help Smoothen the Respiratory System.

Roses have cultural and medicinal significance. All roses are edible, and therefore you can make an aromatic herbal beverage by using them. They may help smoothen your respiratory system from the inside.

In a lab test, the researchers found that ethanolic and aqueous extracts of the rose plant significantly reduced the number of coughs induced by citric acid in guinea pigs. The aqueous, ethyl acetate and n-butanol fractions of the Damask rose also had a relaxant effect on the tracheal smooth muscle of guinea pigs.

Rose may help Reduce Stress.

Today, almost every one of us experiences stressful situations. It’s hard to cope with it, and we should take care of our loved ones if they ever feel stressed out. A simple, homemade, and natural way of handling stress is to consume some freshly brewed Rose Tea.

People have used roses for their therapeutic properties for a long time. Rose oil may help in reducing nervous stress and tension.

In a study conducted on male mice under chronic stress, researchers aimed to investigate the neuropsychological effects of a water-soluble extract of French rose. The results indicated that french rose extract exerted an anti-stress effect on the mice subjected to chronic stress.

Rose Helps the Central Nervous System.

The central nervous system (CNS) controls most functions of your body and mind. It has three broad functions: sensory input, information processing, and motor output. The CNS is literally the backbone of your health. Pun intended.

Apart from the antidepressant and antianxiety effects, the ethanolic extract of the flowering tops of Damask rose has other properties as well. Rose possesses a potent hypnotic activity on the central nervous system in mice. The scientists observed that the sleeping times of the mice increased. This extract also shows anticonvulsant and analgesic effects and promotes nerve growth in mice.

Rose is Anti-Diabetic.

People suffering from diabetes have it tough. The only way to combat diabetes is to either prevent it or modify our lifestyle to deal with the damage caused. Rose may help here. Research suggests that Damask rose exerts an anti-diabetic effect on our body.

In a study, researchers orally administered some amount of methanol extract of Damask rose in normal and diabetic rats. As a result, significantly decreased blood glucose after maltose loading was observed.

Also, Damask rose was identified as a potent inhibitor of the α-glucosidase enzyme, which can reduce the postprandial glucose level in the blood. The polyphenols present in rose tea may help in the prevention of type-2 diabetes.

Rose is also Anti-Ageing.

We often see rosewater as a prominent component in most beauty products. This is mainly due to the anti-ageing properties. Rose is rich in antioxidants. These are the compounds that protect our cells from the damage caused by free radicals.

Free radicals cause damage on a cellular level, which might result in oxidative stress, which can cause premature ageing issues. Research suggests that the anti-ageing properties of rose-flower extract might be due to its antioxidant activity.

Rose can Alleviate Menstrual Cramps.

Almost 50% of women suffer from menstrual pains. Some of them even experience headaches, diarrhoea, fatigue, and vomiting during their menstruation period. Rose tea has been used in Chinese medicine as a traditional remedy for menstrual pains.

In a Taiwanese study, researchers gave 2 cups of rose tea to 130 teenagers daily for 12 days. They did this for a duration of 6 menstrual cycles. Compared to the control group, those given the tea reported less menstrual pain and a better mental health condition.

A Lovely and Unique Drink

Rose Oolong is the beverage that will be a part of your healthy lifestyle. Not only that, but it will prevent all these lifestyle disorders that we saw above. This beautiful combination of rose petals and oolong tea leaves will improve your mood and make your life even better.

So order your pack now and start living healthy without compromising on taste. You can buy in bulk as well- click here to buy a pack of 30 teabags. If you are a fan of oolong tea, make sure you also try High Mountain Darjeeling Oolong Tea. If you like to stick with black tea, try Earl Grey. Cheap is Not Always Better. Try Some Fine Teas.

Cheap

How about buying a replica of your favourite brand? Sounds a bit unacceptable, right! Quality and quantity are two aspects that are relatively proportional to the product’s cost. A cheap product may help you keep your wallet heavy but it may impact your experience. When you buy a cheap or fake product, whether you will derive the same contentment had you purchased the expensive, genuine one, is debatable! However, you cannot make every purchase at a low price with the thought that this practice will be beneficial. Finally, in the everlasting debate of quality and quantity, the former prevails usually. Anything that does not assure quality may neither last long nor be beneficial. So, when it comes to a product of consumption, select the one that promises satisfaction as well as goodness.

“All that glitters is not gold.”

Explore quali-tea

English Breakfast

One of the most popular blended teas among the British, this is a classic breakfast time tea. If a flavourful black tea with milk appeals to you in the morning, reach for our English Breakfast. This tea is perfect to help kick start your day or give you a mid-day boost if you so require.

Earl Grey tea

Another tea type known to benefit your health considerably is the Earl Grey tea. It is a classic black tea infused with Bergamot Oil that was a favourite among eighteenth-century British aristocrats. We present a version of this tea that is a unique combination of the fragrant cold-pressed oil from the rinds of Italian Bergamot oranges and Assam Black Tea. This tea reduces anxiety and relieves stress. We hand process this tea using traditional methods to give you an unforgettable taste.

Whiskey tea

Our non–alcoholic beverage tastes like none other. It smells and tastes like whiskey but is devoid of alcohol. You can brew it hot or cold to enjoy a fantastic aroma and taste of whiskey. Like tea, whiskey is a beverage that calls on years of tradition, patience, sophistication, and skill. The two make a particularly good match by complementing each other through shared notes of smoke and malt.

Kashmiri Kahwa

Our version of this tea is a delectable blend of high-altitude Kashmiri Green tea leaves, cinnamon, cardamom, clove, ginger root, and saffron. It gives a taste of royalty in the first sip and an experience of tranquility for long. Pick it up as your daily morning ritual and start your day right, on a stress-free note.

Teen Paan tea

This tea comes with the flavour of an ever-popular after-food mouth freshener. Our Teen Paan tea soothes the stomach and manages indigestion with its super-duper cooling effect. No need to run down to the local paan shop anymore, just brew a cup to enjoy the goodness.

To conclude

Nature offers a treasure trove of herbs that serve as the answer to every health-related concern. What if we could blend these herbs? Tulsi, Chamomile and many other herbs that help to manage lifestyle disorders could easily be part of our routine, in the form of tea. Ono Teas quotes a new phrase for staying fit, “Sip tea a day, keep doctor away.” We believe that a regular intake of herbs could enhance the immune system and pave the way to lifelong well-being.

Cheap may be a good market strategy for brands to attract costumers, but opting for quality is smart play. Getting customers hoodwinked with low price tags is actually a foolish idea. On the other hand, quality always assures customers that every penny counts. The market is flooded with cheap tea brands, but a genuine brand will always live up to all the advantages. Quality is the soul of Ono Teas. To us, purchasing fine tea is like investing in health and great taste. Fine teas uplift the drinker’s senses and offer a tasteful perspective of life. Our final word: Invest the most, worry the least.

Tea Consumption Second Only to Packaged Water

Tea Is an Expression of Your Emotions and Personality

Personality

Tea has travelled a journey of over eighteen hundred years on this planet. One can trace the earliest mentions of tea back to the third century as the herb with medicinal value. It has been a drink of aristocracy right from the emperors of China to the pharaohs of Egypt. Today, it is a necessary kitchen ingredient in almost every household in Asia and other parts of the world. The British popularised tea in India during their rule of two hundred years. The royalties and the wealthy were the first ones to adapt it as a leisure drink, bringing in a touch of elegance to this beverage. Even today, many tea varieties continue to bear the royal legacy. So, in a way tea bears a stamp of royalty. But would you believe if we share with you the fact that tea also carries a mark of emotion and personality?

Milky tea versus fresh brews

Your cup of tea expresses your emotional state of mind. Additionally, it is indicative of your personality. Now, you may be wondering how the daily dose of milky chai, the one that’s a staple drink of more than half of the Indian population, is indicative of one’s personality? To gain some understanding, you will need to think beyond the regular milky chai and enter the huge and diverse universe of teas.

Before you take the plunge, there is a question for you – How many varieties of tea are there in the world? Four? Eight? Can’t guess? The answer is 1,500. Yes! You didn’t imagine the count to be so high, right? And, what if we tell you that in this article, we aim to relate a particular tea type with a personality or trait? No, we don’t plan to cover all the 1,500 varieties. The idea herein is only to acquaint you with the thought that a person drinking tea could also draw some connection with the corresponding tea type.

The combination of flavours used while brewing tea may reflect personality trends at a given time. While the chamomile is known to be a stress buster, a cup of herbal green tea with honey and lemon may usually project a health-conscious person. On the other hand, a cup with thick milk and three spoonfuls of sugar may reflect the not-so-health-conscious individual.

In fact, the popularity of tea among Indians has been limited to this combination of milky brew. Almost every other roadside tea stall across the country sells only milky tea, and the milk-less version is hard to be seen. It is in these brews without milk where you could explore the different flavours of tea. And, this is where individuals passionate for tea can find their soul-mate-tea-flavour.

Tea as a mood swinger

The most common cup of tea is brewed with hot water from the tea leaves or tea dust, seasoned with sugar and teamed with milk, which we call ‘chai.’ From this combination of hot water and tea leaves, arises over a hundred blends of tea consumed across the world.

For every individual, tea holds a different meaning. For example, an individual who desires a strong flavour might brew their early morning tea from tea leaves and a dash of grated ginger. In this instance, tea symbolises the early morning mood of the individual. Many people prefer drinking tea multiple times during the day, sometimes leading up to six cups a day! Most often these combinations are identical to keep the consistency, and to generate the notion, that we commonly call ‘addiction.’

The early morning cup of tea may also have a dash of sugar for many; however, with the increasing awareness about diabetes, the fancy for sugar has taken a downfall. And somehow, people have started preferring their favourite brews without the sweetness. Additionally, with the increasing popularity of ‘green tea,’ the use of sweetener has taken a downward spiral or has been replaced by natural products, such as honey. For the elderly folks, this change in habit may come across as a complete turn-off, as they have grown up to have a sweet tooth for tea.

All of this information above clearly spells out that tea impacts mood. This isn’t all; there’s more to come.

Tea flavours affecting the mood, defining the personality

Lavender tea

Many people like to have their brews with different herbal flavours, such as lavender, Tulsi (basil), etc. This preference may reflect their closeness to nature or their love for flavoured herbs. Fresh or dried buds of lavender flowers constitute the essential elements of this tea. This tea helps improve sleep quality. Additionally, scientists and physicians consider it to be a nerve tonic, as it helps to rejuvenate the nervous system. More commonly, lavender tea is meant to liven up the mood of the depressed souls, calm their nerves and make them stress-free. If you prefer lavender tea at the end of the day, you are perhaps a soft and tender person, soothing yourself from distress.

Chamomile tea

This tea is loaded with antioxidants. It helps one sleep peacefully. Chamomile tea is known to uplift mood and also works as an anti-depressant and relaxant. That is why, this tea is particularly helpful after a stressful day, especially when one is unable to let go of a particular thought at the back of your mind. Nothing can beat this tea when it comes to taste. Chamomile tea is refreshing whether consumed hot or cold. Preference for chamomile may indicate that the individual prefers naturally sweet flavours, is idealistic and deeply sensitive. They are gentle in disposition, private, internally aware, imaginative and creative. Such persons are dreamers and look for opportunities to drift into la-la land.

Peppermint tea

For the fundamental herbal experience, peppermint infuses the minty flavour in the tea. It is exceedingly soothing for stomach troubles and reducing nausea, or when one has eaten way beyond their limit and feel stuffed. Your love for peppermint would signify your love for the herbs, and your warm nature and exuberance. Want to focus more on work or anything of great interest? Grab peppermint tea. Its minty aroma and slightly sweet taste will help you maintain your concentration. If you regularly sip peppermint tea, you are perhaps a gentle person with a get-it-done personality. You are someone with a laser focus, resilience, and grit.

Hojicha

Are you someone who’s socially reserved and prefers to stay home and engage in solitary pursuits, such as reading, painting, gazing at nature and so on? Do you desire to look for opportunities to retreat to a quiet place and have a long period all to yourself, to feel recharged and energised? In that case, Hojicha is right for you! Every sip of this charcoal roasted green tea will lead you to a world of your own. This tea has low caffeine content and will relax your senses tremendously.

Green tea

This tea is tied to good health and rejuvenation; however, it also helps steer out of laziness. Want to feel high on energy? Sip green tea. Feeling low on mood? Sip green tea. In fact, you can sip this tea any time and multiple times during the day. Green tea helps cut fatty acids and boosts the body metabolism. Certainly, it leaves one feeling fresh for the whole day and their body full of energy, thereby enhancing creativity. People who are on a diet and practise intermittent fasting to lose weight, must drink green tea. Small sips of green tea during the day while fasting will give them the energy to keep going. Green tea is a mark of elegance, positive influence, and accomplishment.

Chai

Chai – the favourite beverage in India is an everyday drink for every household, but for many, it is a magical potion when they are under the weather. A hot cup of chai will help you feel warm and cozy and give you the attraction to stay indoors. It is often teamed with pakodas – a fried snack made of veggies and gram flour. Certainly, it is a tea that sets the mood for conversations with friends and family. If you love a cup of chai in the evening every day, you are perhaps a socializer, the binding agent among friends, and a passionate human being.

Ginger Tea

Ginger tea is a type for any mood. You could have it any time during the day. And at the same time, it could help you beat the cold. Ginger tea finds a mention in the ancient Ayurvedic texts as a tea with medicinal value. Ginger is a strong spice. Hence, your preference for this tea may define your bold, confident and opinionated temperament. If you love ginger tea, most probably you are a person who is willing to get things done despite risks. Your friends and peers admire you and like to be around you. You live young and free.

Black tea

This is a classic breakfast time tea. This flavourful tea has high levels of caffeine that help you kick start your day or give you a mid-day boost. So, it is excellent for the morning time. Black tea is suited well for breakfast with poached eggs, ham, bacon, and bread. It completes the first meal of the day, providing the essential energy for the day. Another name for freshness and vigour, this tea is a mark of class, elegance, and royalty. It projects a personality that is simple yet effervescent and enthusiastic.

Darjeeling tea

Darjeeling is a top-rated hill station – a tourist destination in the state of Bengal in India. It was the destination for a summer retreat for the British during their rule in India. And this is when they popularised Darjeeling Tea. With its close association with the British, Darjeeling tea bears the stamp of class and pride. It is also the most popularly exported tea from the country. If you love this tea, you most certainly carry the mark of refinement and panache.

Rooibos tea

Although naturally free of caffeine, rooibos tea helps in increasing concentration and focus. Hence, it is a great choice when there is a day of hard work coming up. If you are drinking the rooibos every day, you may be working too hard and need to take it slow.

Iced tea

On a hot summer afternoon, the common phenomenon is to walk into the teashop around the corner and order for an iced lemon tea or peach flavoured iced tea. This tea is a great energiser and paves the way to conversations and amiable interactions.

Teas for moments you want to cherish

Tea is a beverage that accompanies you in your ‘me’ time. People serve this beverage in every get-together at home. This drink is the reason people take out a pinch of time from their busy schedule and gather up for a short time. So, next time you hold a cup of tea, remember you’re holding an emotion. Ono Teas certainly believes that tea is an expression of one’s emotions and personality. Your cup. Your personality.

The universe of teas is magical. If you are cold, tea will warm you. Conversely, if you are too heated, it will cool you. If you are depressed, tea will cheer you. And, if you are excited, it will calm you. Tea is the key to every mood if you are a reflective soul. Your love for a cup of tea can define who you are, and with the changing preferences for brews, you may find your own personality.

Tea: A Simple Solution to Modern Life’s Modern Ills

Tea

“If we had no winter, the spring would not be so pleasant;
if we did not sometimes taste adversity, prosperity would not be so welcome.”
– Anne Bradstreet.

The past few decades have shown how the health of the working professionals has continually been deteriorating because of a fast lifestyle. For temporary relief or pleasure, they cling to coffee, beer, alcohol, cigarettes, meat, and fast food. All this works fine in the life cycle of human being, as long as it doesn’t go overboard. Now, the problem arises when you cling only to the pillars mentioned above of the fast, modern lifestyle. These habits are the primary reasons for lifestyle discomforts, such as stress, hypertension, heart disease, insomnia, addictions, and obesity. The wrong chords of working professionals ring when they massively indulge in work, bad lifestyle habits, and escapes using temporary means. If you are in these circumstances, your equation needs a hand. The answer is tea.

The first look

If we give the tea a significant throwback, you will be bewildered how royal it was. It brought about a sense of royalty and luxury to people. Before the 1700s, this beverage was precious. It was considered such a great luxury item that it had to be smuggled between countries and parties in various parts of the world. Even colonized countries faced a significant amount of pain in tea plantations as the countrymen and women were enslaved to work.

And look at us today boasting about pizza and other junk. When you look at this drink with the prism of benefits, it is no longer just a high commodity. You won’t be wrong if you call it the elixir of life, as it proffers you immense health benefits. Tea throws a rescue rope even before you fall into the well.

More about tea

TeaThis beverage will be your great friend, if not, a spiritual friend when you scream through the roller coaster of life. Every tea type has benefits that can totally help you avoid lifestyle discomforts and soothe you during your moments of stress, dismay, and confusion. Tea has these extraordinary benefits because it is pumped with antioxidants, flavonoids, polyphenols. These components help you maintain your health and keep yourself mentally alert.

Bearing in mind all the benefits this beverage gives you, and the royalty it carries, one should directly storm to the doors of Ono Teas. With different product categories, Ono Teas provides you moments of relief and pleasure amidst your whirlpool of a hectic life and other lifestyle disorders. As a working professional, office, and pollution might prove to be your greatest enemies. And taming your enemies has never been easier.

Tea works wonders, one sip at a time

TeaNow let’s get into the macro and micro of factors affecting your stress. Let’s understand how tea can be the pedestal of relief for you.

Herbal teas are full of medicinal properties. They help soothe your digestive system and hydrate your skin while the antioxidants repair you from within. Want to Win the Battle Against the Effects of Fast Food?

Fast-food effects

When you have a tsunami of food brands that only aims to entice you into shelling loads of money buying fast food, you don’t have much of a fight. Fast food does taste awesome! Plus, in a world where you have to streak through the day with loads of work and an enormous amount of stress, finding relief and pleasure in fast foods is not uncommon. But take a moment and GET REAL. Apart from blessing you with ungodly amounts of harmful chemicals and junk, fast food could play a sinister role in killing you with bad cholesterol and saturated fat. It has incredible abilities to turn your stomach into a junkyard.

We have these weapons of mass destruction on every street corner, and they’re called donuts, cheeseburgers, French fries, potato chips, junk food. Our kids are living on a junk food diet.
– Joel Fuhrman

On the pretext of seeking instant gratification in the present, you risk your future. You may be aware of this fact. But you behave as if engulfed in a prison of pleasure. Think again! It’s time to keep your fast-food pangs under control. It’s time to bid farewell to your fast-food addiction and the resulting wave of risks it brings to your health. And, tea can help you in a big way. Know how.

Tip 1: Detox your system. With tea.

Fast-food effectsIt is imperative to detox your system regularly. You have raced and danced in the world of fast-food dirt tracks, and you expect the body to clean all of it by itself? You need to give your body a hand.

Detox tea could be the answer to your woes. Celebrities from all domains swear by the benefits of detox tea, making it look like the new super food! Hold your horses! Don’t succumb to the marketing gimmicks. Detox teas work best when accompanied with a balanced diet and regular exercise. Yes, eat right, you must! Exercise regularly, you must! Wondering what these teas are? Detox teas are simply herbal teas, also called tisanes. Ono Teas offers a range of such teas, including Peppermint tea, Skin Glow Herbal tea and Hibiscus tea.

Peppermint tea

This tea is a beautiful combination of spearmint, peppermint and regular mint, offering you an ideal herbal minty experience. This tea cleanses your body, improves long-term memory, promotes oral health, boosts energy and reduces allergy.

Skin Glow Herbal tea

This tea is a herbal tisane that has been carefully crafted to keep the body in perfect balance. With a combination of the medicinal properties of turmeric, ginger root and lemongrass, this caffeine-free tea is great for slimming down, and healthy skin and hair.

Hibiscus tea

We process this ‘all red’ herbal tisane with handpicked Hibiscus petals in small batches to offer you a delicious citrus treat. This exotic, soothing caffeine-free herbal tea is recommended for detox in addition to decreasing blood pressure, reducing cholesterol and lowering the risk of cardiovascular diseases.

The above teas are excellent in flushing out toxins and bad cholesterol from your system. Regular consumption of these teas will offer you the elixir of rejuvenation.

Tip 2: Invest in nutrition.

Fast-food effectsIt is the first step to beat any further damage to your health caused by junk food. It is paramount that you need to stop excess intake of alcohol, coffee, smoking, meat, and fast food addictions in the next few hours. It’s necessary! Let this piece of news be your truth of the day.

You must start scheduling what you eat, why you eat and how much you eat. Introduce a whole food, nutritious diet to your lifestyle instead of pumping your body with foods that it doesn’t need. Do not dwell in YOLO. As you quit your addictions and slowly move towards the right kind of foods, you will experience the radical change – longevity and delayed aging. Remember, you are what you eat!

Tip 3: Sip tea. Simple!

Bring a change

Fast-food effectsLet’s be honest here. You cannot always maintain a schedule of ginger juices and green veggies to stay healthy. Sometimes you need a break from the not-so-boring-yet-boring diet food hassle. There’s where tea steps. Tea can serve as an excellent stimulant to help you stick to the lifestyle practices mentioned above. Moreover, tea is incredibly healthy, tasty and refreshing. You could begin your day with Turmeric Herbal tea. Turmeric is not only a great anti-inflammatory agent, but it also repairs your system within by providing antioxidants to your body.

Familiar with the over sensationalized protein, right? Protein fills your system with a lot of nutrients, making you feel full. Did you know that a fantastic green tea protein shake not only gives you protein but also kills cholesterol and saturated fats? You can blend tea with your protein shakes, thus supplying your system with ultra-rich bioactive compounds to build strength and cleanse your body at the same time. Moreover, you need a robust system to digest your protein intakes efficiently. So, tea and your protein foods work hand in hand.

De-stress with tea

Fast-food effectsThe effects of fast foods also steer their way towards impairing health when you don’t give yourself the breathing space or moments of solitude that your mind and body always need. Worry not, you have Hojicha or Tulsi Lemongrass tea to your aid. These teas not only have excellent compounds to help you repair and restore your health but also prove to be your best me-time drink.

Answering the concern of addressing daily stress – you can drink tea to bust your stress. When you meddle all your day in stressful work, your mind will run towards the hallways of junk food. To shoot two cans with one bullet, start having herbal tea. Teas, such as Pure Chamomile tea, Chamomile Lemongrass tea, Oolong tea, Darjeeling tea, Hojicha tea, and Earl Grey tea are the ultimate stress busters. You can manage your stress levels efficiently by avoiding fast-food, introducing a healthy diet, and sipping herbal tea every day.

Teas to calm you

Your sleep patterns are significantly affected by the fast-foods you gobble. Fast foods introduce parasites into your bowels which affect your digestion ultimately catapulting your sleep pattern into a dark abyss. You can blindly trust Pure Chamomile tea to relieve you from stress and give you a good night’s sleep. Chamomile is considered as a mild tranquilizer and aids your sleep greatly. A study published in PubMed Central, part of National Center for Biotechnology Information (NCBI), has hinted that the compound, apigenin in chamomile might be responsible for the sedative effect of the tea.

Fast-food effectsHerbal tea is an excellent de-stressing and health-giving beverage, unlike coffee and beer. It does not only bring a promise of health, but also a sense of contentment in whatever you do. Be it watching a movie, reading a book, or attending a meditation session; tea is an excellent drink to offer you tranquility. Thus, replacing your coffee and beer with tea is a positive step for you to counter fast food effects and also the craving. Turmeric Herbal tea and Tulsi Lemongrass tea are known to rid your body of the toxins slowly. Green tea helps to lose weight, prevent the formation of cancerous cells, restores oral health and helps your body cleanse itself.

To conclude

Your decision to quit and combat the effects of fast food may be hard to come by. But once you decide on it, accept it wholeheartedly with a calm state of mind and with some tea. Your cognitive clarity is linked to how healthy your system is. If you keep treating your tummy as a junkyard, it will be tougher for you to cleanse your body efficiently. Introducing tea into your daily routine acts as a blessing. No hectic workouts, no time-consuming meal plans. Keep a regular schedule of exercise and yoga and enhance its effects with tea. At a time where even your conscious decision tells you to binge on fast food, avoid the impulse. Starve your body of fast food and slowly and steadily make tea a great friend in everything you do.

Ten Common Myths About Tea Debunked. Finally!

Myths

Tea has seen a lot throughout humankind’s history. Right from the ancient age to the present day, tea has always played a significant role in our society. Be it a social gathering or me-times; we have thought of tea as a regenerative, de-stressing and luxurious drink. It sidelines significantly from the regular beverages, such as coffee, alcohol, beer and aerated flavoured drinks, which may be detrimental to health. No wonder, there are multiple myths about tea, thanks to ill-informed people. The utter desperation behind tea smuggling and tea trade is now evident when we have medical science backing tea for it’s pure and medicinal values.

Since childhood, a lot of people may have heard about tea bringing in addiction or dependency. Tea was also perpetrated as just dust or low-quality tea dust, given to people who can’t afford the real drink, and real tea leaves only being accessible to the elite of the society. The reality of the above claim should be left in the hands of those individuals who have the time and money to perpetuate lies but at the same time fail in doing so. Again, why do we say that? Because the answer is still, medical science. Researchers, including ancient and modern, have time and again proved the health benefits of tea. Before we milk the science out of it, let’s give it a little historical context to show why tea myths are brainless.

A peek into the history of tea

Shunan Zeng, the holy farmer who accidentally discovered tea after being poisoned nearly 72 times when he was in search of edibles in the forest, was the first person to write about tea. The inception of tea was in China, 1,500 years before the Pharaohs built the Pyramids of Giza. So, you must wonder why tea isn’t considered as phenomenal as the pyramids themselves? You see, tea had a different approach and preparation method during the ancient age. Only about a 1,000-2,000 years ago, we discovered that tea could be heated, packed, powdered and added to hot water finally bringing ‘Matcha’ on the table.

Tea mythsIt got so popular that everyone right from the pompous emperors to poor artists consumed tea with a great sense of luxury. Do you also know that the world’s fastest ship around that time, the clipper ship, saw its inception because of the intense trading competition between the world’s most powerful emperors? Well, it would be mean to say that the British popularised tea, considering colonial animosity and the false history of course, but unfortunately, that is the case. The world says that Queen Catherine of Braganza, a Portuguese noblewoman brought tea to its fame as it has today. Even the hills of tea in Darjeeling were born out of covert operation by the Brits who chose to steal tea trees and plant them in India for further profit.

So, why all this mollycoddling for tea’s history?

It’s always good to give a little context before talking more. It proves why tea was regarded as significant historically, economically and medically. As chest thumping tea lovers who dream of nothing but superior health, holistic sense of self, and healthy social time with loved ones, Ono Teas stands witness to the atrocities done to tea today. Tea cannot wail or scream out of sorrow, but we can help it out with some truth. All the myths that tend to taint tea with wrong colours must be debunked, and here we go!

Myth No. 1: Black Tea should be black. Period.

This is one of the most common myths. Before anyone even begins to catch a racist node to this, there is entirely no reason why anybody shouldn’t add milk, honey, or lime to black tea. This tea type, one of the easiest and healthiest drinks, can even be prepared by adding cardamom, cinnamon, ginger or cloves. The pseudoscience behind ‘It will alter the antioxidant levels of the tea’ is, well you guessed it, pseudo. If you add milk or honey, it only adds to the flavour and richness to it. Today, you have even better options, such as using soy milk or almond milk in the tea, which only makes it more fantastic.

Myth No. 2: Peppermint tea is good for stomach issues.

We don’t like to criticise tea. And we won’t. The better choice of tea for your stomach-related issues would be the Turmeric Herbal tea or Turmeric Ginger tea. It has anti-inflammatory and antibacterial properties that aid in flushing out toxins or parasites from your gut. Even though mint acts as a coolant, pepper can sometimes be an irritant to the intestinal hair, and that’s precisely why you should avoid it, only during stomach issues. Otherwise, Peppermint tea is a great tea. Hails!

Myth No. 3: Green tea can make you look like a Greek god.

One of the most baseless myths under circulation! Yes, green tea does effectively help you in managing your weight. But like the commercials you see, it is tough to bring yourself into shape instantly. To be in form, you need more than just tea. Green tea aids in metabolism and improved energy burning. The regular consumption of green tea can enhance your metabolism, which will ensure that you don’t have unnecessary fat stored in your body. So Greek god or not is out of the question. First hit the gym and then sip green tea. You will make your way through.

Myth No. 4: Dried tea leaves are eternal.

Every product that you buy has a shelf life. So is the case with tea leaves. Be it dried or roasted. They have a shelf life only for about 6-8 months, and to your knowledge, it is the most ethical way of processing tea. Supplying it with preservatives may increase its shelf life but may be detrimental to your health. So, consume the beverage daily and don’t use the tea leaves for too long. They don’t taste great. Trust us.

Myth No. 5: Tea bags are fantastic!

There is no replacement for loose tea leaves. Tea bags often come with low-quality tea dust and the bags are made from bleached silk or corn plastic, making them even more harmful for the environment. Just like tea, be more holistic. A tea bag will add to the style factor, and if you can’t resist the temptation, opt for a bleach-free tea bag product. But we still urge you to use loose leaf tea as it has greater healthy compounds than the tea bags. We provide you with loose tea leaves. Be it tea bags or loose leaves; Ono Teas is where you should be headed.

Myth No. 6: Tea bags do not give great tea.

Do not confuse this tea myth with the above. Tea bags, when prepared and steeped properly, give excellent aroma, texture, and taste to the tea. You just need the right preparation technique, and with that, you can achieve a great cup of tea. We give you our word. And if the thought of tea bags being detrimental for you and the environment scares you, then worry not. Ono Teas is planning to launch a wide range of superior tea types packed in biodegradable packs, which is right for you as well as Mother Earth. Worry not. We got your back.

Myth No. 7: Green tea is the only antioxidant-rich tea source.

Again, one of the most common myths about tea! Can we stop this already? Green tea is great! It is healthy! It helps and provides a lot of health benefits. But it is not the ONLY antioxidant tea source. All teas are rich in antioxidants, and that’s why tea is acclaimed so much in the first place. The production and packaging of every tea type differs and the antioxidant levels vary in every tea type depending on the combination of herbs and tea leaves. A couple of the best antioxidant-rich teas are the Turmeric Herbal tea and the Tulsi Lemongrass tea by Ono Teas, which give you the perfectly balanced antioxidant supply. Come on now. Drop this myth already.

Myth No. 8: Tea is the only shield against free radicals.

Free radicals are responsible for gradually damaging our organs and the entire body. It is essential to always have a balanced diet and workouts along with tea, which will help fight free radicals. Depending on tea alone would be foolish.

Jasmine tea, hibiscus tea, green tea, and lemon verbena tea are the best-known teas that provide you with a bottomless supply of health.

Myth No. 9: Herbal teas are always natural and safe.

Even though it’s bad for business, we want to be true to you. Herbal teas can sometimes come in the way of medications and instantly react as an allergen to your body. It varies differently with the user and the scope of allergy, and getting harmed by it is extremely low. But you should always have some background check before buying herbal teas and how it can get in the way of your health. It can also be harmful to pregnant women. Some teas with a stimulating effect on the uterus or menstrual flow should be avoided entirely. Sometimes even the healthiest of things can backstab you. Being honest, forever.

Myth No. 10: Tea can kill cancer cells.

This statement is one of the most easily believable myths. The gravity of this myth is immense. Green tea has been studied very carefully by scientists and has been suggested to provide the body with a perfect space to improve cellular function. One of the studies published in PubMed Central, National Center for Biotechnology Information (PMC, NCBI) infers that tea could play a role in delaying cancer onset and reducing cancer incidence. However, medical science doesn’t support any claim of tea curing cancer.

Bonus Tea Myth Debunking

Myth No. 11: Those with a mould allergy, stay away from tea.

It is of the weakest myths you would have ever heard. It can quickly be brought under the light because the production and manufacture of tea say so. The high temperature involved in the fermentation of tea completely erases any fungi present in it. So, it is not even a rare chance that you might get a mould allergy from tea. If you still get it, you will have to monitor your diet carefully and other intakes before dumping the whole blame on tea.

Final words

Tea mythsOur tea police want to debunk and bust more tea myths, but it is already time that we stop it. The only thing we want out of this deal about debunking myths is for you to understand the importance of tea and the real insights into it.

Historically, tea has played a massive role in health, luxury, trade, and economy. It still is one of the most revered beverages across the world. In India, we have a vast tea culture in and around all religions. Sometimes it is chai. At times it is masala chai. And if mood speaks, it is Sulaimani. Can you guess what the next favorite tea type would be in India? Maybe the Uttarakhand Pure Chamomile Green tea? Or the native Tulsi Lemongrass tea? Or our exotic, exclusive, one and only non-alcoholic Whiskey tea? It is time to revive our tea culture. It is time to bid adieu to the tea myths. In the mirage of coffee and alcohol and other weak beverages, the image of tea lies blurred. Not entirely, but not in its full potential either. Other than that, we always stand by tea and the service it has towards humanity. Sounds too emotional? Wait till you try our different teas. We already have more space for people to join our tea revolution. Ciao!

Stressed or Have Sleep Disorders? Drink Chamomile Tea

Have you ever been through days where you are desperately on a lookout to get yourself some sleep? Yes, I’ve been through them. And you know what? There is something about stress that gets to me; when I’m exhausted my body seems to forget how to fall asleep. However, much I want to go to sleep and pinch my eyes shut or cuddle up in the softness of my pillow; all go in vain. So, I made a promise to myself that I will search for an alternative to my dreaded sleepless nights. Thus, I began my voyage to de-stress and relax. Consequently, I had to find myself a relaxant, but I was reluctant to use any of those conventional medicines that one sees in a doctor’s clinic. Halt, I’m a person for the alternative medicine, always on a lookout for a body-friendly way to recover myself without being harmed. Therefore, a lot of research, web-based reading and friend talk led me to the beautiful chamomile tea.

What is chamomile tea?

Chamomile for stress and sleep disordersChamomile tea gets its name from the Roman Chamomile plant or mother’s daisy, mostly found in Europe, North America and Argentina. India has witnessed the cultivation of this plant in the city of Lucknow for about 200 years. This plant made a foray in Punjab about 300 years ago during the Mughal period. These dried chamomile flowers are loaded with antioxidants and are well known for their sleep aiding properties. The chamomile plant is safe for consumption and has been used in many cultures across the world as a mild sedative and to treat stomach ailments. People commonly use its flowers in teas. Moreover, the Anglo-Saxons believe this herb to be 1 of 9 sacred herbs given to humans by the lord.

Chamomile tea and me

Chamomile teaChamomile not only aids digestion but can also be used to control nausea. That is why, I recommend keeping this tea at home. And that’s what I do. There is no need to take medicine. Instead, I treat these simple conditions of bloating and vomiting with my favorite Pure Chamomile Tea, whereas I keep Chamomile Mint or Sweet Dreams Tea for my family as they don’t like the floral fragrance of the chamomile flower. But for me, the sweet flowery hint of aroma brought about by Ono Tea’s Pure Chamomile Tea serves as the best relaxant when the darkness of night falls.

My day usually ends with the dinner dishes and that is the time when I love to grab a cup of tea, for my hubby and myself; resting on our favorite recliners. Sipping down on our ideal blend and talking about our day’s ups and downs, is so relaxing. It seems to remove all the knots that have formed throughout my muscles. The warm cup of water and the sweet scent of chamomile brings out a magical effect that results in loosening the tension. The tea sets the note for serene tranquility, leading to a beautiful and relaxing sleep mode. Research seconds this fact too. In fact, a study published in PubMed Central, National Centre for Biotechnology Information (PMC, NCBI) states that chamomile is commonly used in the form of an aqueous extract to reduce anxiety, treat hysteria, nightmares, insomnia and other sleep problems.

The delicious chamomile tea latte

Try this personal favorite – hot but soothing chamomile tea latte. At night, when it’s quiet and dark, that’s the perfect time to heat some milk and enjoy this fantastic drink. I prefer to brew the chamomile tea right in the milk and then add dried lavender buds that release their fragrance as the tea steeps. Lavender enables relaxation naturally, especially at bedtime. We all know that warm milk acts as a sleep inducer and chamomile takes it a step further.

A sip of this dreamy latte will help you forget all your troubles of the day, if only for a few moments. I’ve grown a sort of addiction for this bedtime drink. All it needs is a dollop of honey for sweetness, which goes very nicely with it.

Cooking time: 5 minutes
Yield: 2 cups

Ingredients

  • Milk: 2 cups (regular or non-dairy)
  • Dried chamomile buds: 2 to 3 tsp heaped
  • Raw honey or maple syrup: 1 to 2 Tsp
  • Pure Vanilla extract: ¼ Tsp (if desired)

Preparations:

  1. Heat the milk until it is hot. Ensure it is not boiling.
  2. Add chamomile tea to the hot milk and allow the drink to steep for about 5 minutes.
  3. With the help of our faithful strainer, strain the beautiful liquid into your favorite cup.
  4. Finally, refresh with raw honey or Maple syrup and add vanilla extract, if desired.

There you go!! Your chamomile tea latte is ready to drink. And, remember we can always play around with flavours as per our likeness. It may be a hint of cinnamon or a dash of lavender; trying to reveal untold stories. To further glamourise my tea, I love to froth the hot milk with the help of a frother and voilà! The outcome is just beautiful.

Benefits associated with chamomile tea

Chamomile teaAlthough I’m a black tea lover, chamomile tea is the way to go when I’m overworked and in a mood for a spa. It has the most soothing effects on my already weary nerves. Chamomile tea helps in falling fast asleep and waking up all refreshed the next morning. Additionally, it relieves the body and mind from the daily anxiety that we suffer living in a busy urban environment.

To sum up, chamomile tea is not an actual tea. Instead, it is an herbal form. It tastes more like a crisp apple and has a very light and airy feel to it. To enjoy the best flavour and aroma, one must brew the dried chamomile flowers for not more than 3 to 4 minutes especially when consuming only with water, without milk or honey. Hot or cold, with lemon, cinnamon, honey or lavender; as a latte with frothed milk or just with water, chamomile tea has immense benefits. And in the present-day sleep-deprived lives, who doesn’t need a beautiful, light, airy cup of tea to go down those sweet dream lanes that they always used to visit?

Adopt Herbal Tea – A Healthy Alternative to Coffee

Coffee

Is coffee good for you?

In a world where almost, everyone has a mosh pit of coffee and harmful beverages, there is a high possibility of one crossing that danger line. In a sense, every year, people suffer from addiction to caffeine, alcohol, and other stimulants, which does very little good and empirical damage. Especially in this fast-moving age, romanticizing and glorifying coffee addiction also comes with a bunch of physical and mental dependency. You may often find people having a cup of coffee, along with cigarettes that claim to soothe them down. Many of them also have coffee when they have loads of work to complete. In Ono Teas’ prism of the world, this practice is unhealthy. Dependency and lifestyle around coffee and caffeine tell a lot about inefficiency. Before that, let’s discuss the already established ill effects of caffeine on health.

Caffeine has been known to have some beneficial properties to it. Now it is fundamental to realise that over here, problems outweigh benefits. Caffeine is not vicious. But the resulting dependency creates fatigue and robs you of your energy. Additionally, it creates digestive issues, gives rise to insomnia and meddles with your focus levels. Your physical problems are directly linked to your mental stability. The dependency also gives rise to:

  • Anxiety symptoms
  • Bipolar disorder symptoms
  • Mood swings
  • Irritability, and
  • Can also lead to depression if all of this is interlinked.

Caffeine, or coffee, is the only psychoactive drug that everyone accepts with raised arms across the globe. Caffeine is also terrible for pregnant women. The foothills of the mountain of caffeine problems always seem safe, unless one crosses the line.

Drink the better beverage

CoffeeCrossing out the possibility that you are one among the self-actualised individuals on the Maslowian hierarchy, you always need a little something to stimulate yourself physically and mentally. Not using anything to be motivated, relaxed and stress-free is a great solution. But do you know what could be a better alternative? The answer is tea.

This beverage might not seem or sound like the magical ayahuasca of your life, but tea is fantastic! It offers the perennial promise of excellent health and no-better-drink for your leisure time. Tea conquers all areas of dismay, be it health, or your me-times.

Tea was an expensive and luxurious commodity during the colonial age. Even though today’s usual tea is unbelievably cheap, it does not rule out the fact that it is luxurious.

Tea drinking – A new perspective

CoffeeTraditionally, the Indian social circle is known to dumb down tea. The milky chai, undoubtedly tasty, also comes with some repercussions. If you take into consideration the quality of milk used in these teas, it would be clear as to why it is damaging to our health. Even culturally, the milky tea or chai has become the staple beverage. It is not only unhealthy but also super addictive.

A number of academic studies have commented on the risks of milk consumption, but the results are conflicting. Scientists and academicians are still on with research on milk-related allergy and sensitivity. Moreover, people also have a culture of sipping chai from the streets. Not to be narcissistic about it, but the quality of milk and the unhygienic process of making the chai may add to the harm quotient of the drink. A little shift in the daily habit by replacing regular tea with herbal tea might move mountains! Be it Tulsi Lemongrass tea, Pure chamomile tea, or the green tea; it beats coffee and caffeine in every way. It is undoubtedly the healthiest alternative to caffeinated drinks.

A peek into the wonders of tea

CoffeeTea is super powerful in tackling anxiety issues, insomnia, curbing cholesterol, and other lifestyle discomforts as well. Right from the ancient ages, mankind has looked upon tea not like a royal commodity but rather a medicinal herb. The ancient Chinese used tea to heal a lot of diseases, including the chronic ones.

One of the most revered and favoured drinks, when one dines out or has fast food, is the iced tea. Not only is it tasty and aromatic, but is also useful in several ways. One often flavours it with lemon and ginger, which adds up to the beneficial quotient.

If you look around, green tea has become popular these days. The answer to its rise to fame are some of the following health benefits it offers with every cup.

  • Fights off oral bacteria
  • Helps you shed some weight
  • Not only releases but also makes way for some dopamine rush
  • Is an excellent alternative to the usual beverage!

CoffeeIf you are a working professional, a retired war veteran, or a grandmother sewing sweater, tea is an excellent drink to bring you tranquility. It perfectly decorates your mood, be it your me-time or a chat with your family. You can also avail and have different tea types suiting the occasion. Ono Teas offers a range of teas to stimulate your conversations. Try our non-alcoholic Whiskey tea, Kashmiri Kahwa, Peppermint tea, Tulsi Sweet Lemon tea and many more. The pure chamomile tea serves as an excellent de-stressor tea. You can have the Turmeric herbal tea with your breakfast, making it easy to breakdown and digest your food. If you are in a bad mood and feels like the world is about to see another apocalypse, head straight for the Chamomile Lemongrass tea. It is a great de-stressor and also soothes your soul by its natural aroma.

Taking tea, a step further

A teacup is not only known for it’s magic to bring a sense of calmness to the body and the mind but also prevent many lifestyle disorders, such as stress and anxiety. You see, a cup of tea is not the same when you share it with others. The space it gives to create memorable moments and experiences with yourself and loved ones is irreplaceable. As you know it’s the age of combinations; you can also have tea in coffee flavours. For completing your health chart, you can always have the coffee flavoured green tea! Another mostly favoured combination of tea is infusing tea with protein shakes. You can find numerous tea protein shake blends that serve as an excellent drink for workouts and overall health.

Tea is ceremonious too. No, it’s not far-fetched. If you look at many spiritual ceremonies, people consume herbal tea mindfully before and after the spiritual sessions. According to Wikipedia, the Japanese have an elaborate tea ceremony, also called Chanoyu, Sado or Ocha, that encompasses a ceremonial preparation and presentation of a powdered green tea known as matcha. A couple of videos below will give you an essence of the Japanese tea ceremony.

Take a look at a scene from a popular film “Karate Kid 2”, depicting a traditional Japanese tea ceremony.

Here’s a story of Sensei Sobin Koizumi hosting a tea ceremony, published by National Geographic. As per this story, she has been involved with tea ceremonies since she was six years old! Incredible, isn’t it?

Many cultures sip tea, the elixir of life, in high self-esteem and have acclaimed its sheer power to bring a sense togetherness with every cup. Tea is devoid of all the adverse health problems that other caffeinated or alcoholic drinks bring in. It helps you throughout your schedule.

Tea is the right choice

CoffeeDifferent tea types support you in different ways. Be it your favorite latte, or the prestigious Irish coffee, the help it does is only topical.

Adopting tea opens up multiple pathways for health and lifestyle. Can you drink tea when you’re anxious? Yes. Can you have a coffee flavoured decaf green tea? Absolutely. Can you sip Pure Chamomile tea for a night of better sleep? Without a doubt! You see, tea can be adopted and blended with any drink that will rank it into a healthy alternative. The time is ripe for it!
