Sweet Dreams by Ono Teas is made using chamomile flowers and petals, lemongrass, chrysanthemum, lavender, and marigold flowers. First up, we have chamomile. The name comes from the Greek words ‘chamos’, meaning ground, and ‘melos’ meaning apple – because of the fresh apple scent of the chamomile blossoms. It was highly valued by the Egyptians, Romans, and Greeks for its good health-promoting attributes. Lemongrass is an aromatic tall sedge that was brought to India a century ago and is now cultivated commercially. It grows in parts of tropical and sub-tropical South East Asia and Africa. Chrysanthemum is a flowering plant belonging to the Asteraceae family. First cultivated centuries ago in China, the chrysanthemum was used primarily as a culinary herb. While the petals and young shoots found their way into salads, its flowers and leaves were taken and brewed into teas. Coming from the mint family, the origins of Lavender are believed to be from the Mediterranean, Middle East, and India. Its history goes back some 2500 years. The Romans used Lavender to scent their baths, beds, clothes, and even hair. This perfect blend of ingredients does justice to its name and helps you sleep like a baby.
