HISTORY & ORIGINS

Earl Grey Tea
Earl Grey Tea is quintessentially one of the famous flavoured teas in the world. There are many interesting stories about the origin of Earl Grey. Some believe that the tea was given as a gift to the Earl Grey family as a result of ending a monopoly of trade between China and Britain. While others say that a British diplomat rescued a Chinese mandarin’s son from drowning. To thank him, the Chinese mandarin (Tea merchant) presented Earl Grey Tea to the Prime Minister. Bergamot oil was not a native fruit to China. Then how did it come into the practice of flavouring teas? Some believe the oil of bergamot was added to teas by the Chinese mandarin for the Grey family to enhance the taste of the tea. Ono Teas’ Earl Grey is a fresh citrus treat to your palate. Enjoy this tea at any time of the day to recharge your mind and get your tasks done with full energy. Want to know more about the rich history of Earl Grey? Check out our detailed blog
