History and Origins

<strong>Full Petal HibiscusHaving a tart taste similar to that of cranberries, hibiscus tea originates from North Africa and Southeast Asia. It can be served hot or iced. The best time to drink it would be after dinner.

Translating as “Rose of China” in Latin, hibiscus is a beautiful, vigorous, glossy-leafed plant with intensely bright red, double flowers that are found in the tropical and sub-tropical regions.

Widely cultivated as an ornamental plant, it is often seen in Hawaiian women as a symbol of beauty. This flower is also known as the “China Rose”.  Traditionally this plant has been used in the form of paste and applied to the hair as a natural shampoo-it helps with healthy improved textured hair, scalp, anti-greying.

Hibiscus has been used as traditional medicine in Siddha and Ayurveda. It has been used to treat a variety of diseases and ailments such as cough cold, hair problems, respiratory disorders, cardio problems, hypertension, and mental pressure.
