HISTORY & ORIGINS

Japanese Green Sencha Tea
Japanese Sencha is completely different from other variants of green tea. The water containing the tea leaves’ essence is consumed. The leaves are steamed to prevent oxidation. Let’s take a look at its history. Sencha didn’t become popular until the 17th century. Buddhist monks brought this tea to Japan from China. They planted tea trees in the Ujitawara region of Kyoto, Japan. Soon Sencha became more preferred than Matcha, as it was easy to brew and took lesser time. On the other hand, Matcha required a lot of preparation. In fact, 80% of all the tea that comes from Japan is Sencha. Ono Teas’ Japanese Green Sencha is carefully processed according to Japanese tradition. Our Japanese Sencha tea lets you have the taste of true tradition.
