History and Origins
Inspired by the Red, Green, and Blue blocks taught to our kids, blue and yellow colors from Himalayan Butterfly Blue Pea Flower and a combination of Stevia Leaves, dehydrated Spearmint, and Peppermint leaves mixed in just the right ratios give the tea a beautiful ocean green color.
From the Ayurvedic times, Shankhpushpi or Blue Pea Flower has been used for culinary as well as traditional medicines. But it is most famous among cocktail and mocktail mixologists because of its color-changing abilities.
Mint leaves, both Spearmint and Peppermint also have vivid history and origins. While Peppermint slowly started gaining popularity in the Europe during the eighteenth century, traditionally it was cultivated by Egyptians. It entered the wines and sauces of the Romans and Greeks who also used it to treat cough, cold and as a digestive aid. Spearmint know for its distinguished leaves is cultivated in the US, China, Europe and south Africa
At Ono Teas, we wanted to create a colorful minty concoction that could be used on its own as a Sherbat, Iced Tea, or by mixologists to create magical drinks with ecstatic colorful cocktails and mocktails with a minty twist.
To keep the health tradition going we added Stevia leaves which act as a natural sweetener and is a much healthier option compared to regular sucrose.
